Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate wall square footage?
Multiply the wall length by the wall height to get the gross area. For a room, add all four walls: 2 x (length + width) x height. Subtract 15 sq ft per standard window and 21 sq ft per standard door to get the net area for painting or siding.
How many sheets of drywall do I need for a room?
Calculate the total gross wall area (perimeter x height) and divide by 32 (the area of a 4x8 sheet). Add 10% for waste and cuts. For a 12x14 room with 8-foot ceilings: (52 ft perimeter x 8 ft) / 32 = 13 sheets. Order 14-15 sheets.
