What is a pip?
A pip (Percentage in Point) is the smallest standard price move in forex. For most pairs it is 0.0001 (the 4th decimal). For JPY pairs it is 0.01 (the 2nd decimal).
How is pip value calculated?
For pairs where USD is the quote currency (e.g., EUR/USD): Pip Value = Lot Size x Pip Size. For pairs where USD is the base currency: Pip Value = (Lot Size x Pip Size) / Exchange Rate.
What is the pip value of a standard lot?
For a standard lot (100,000 units) in EUR/USD, one pip is worth $10. For a mini lot (10,000 units) it is $1, and for a micro lot (1,000 units) it is $0.10.
