Frequently Asked Questions

What is implantation?
Implantation is when a fertilized egg (blastocyst) attaches to the lining of the uterus. This typically occurs 6-12 days after ovulation, most commonly around 8-10 days post-ovulation. Successful implantation is required for pregnancy to begin.
What does implantation bleeding look like?
Implantation bleeding is typically very light pink or brown spotting that lasts 1-2 days. It's much lighter than a normal period. Only about 25-30% of pregnant women experience implantation bleeding.
Can I take a pregnancy test during implantation?
It's best to wait until at least 14 days past ovulation (DPO) or the day of your expected period. hCG levels need time to rise after implantation, and testing too early may give a false negative.
