How do weighted grades work?
Weighted grades assign different levels of importance to different categories. For example, if exams are worth 40% of your grade and homework is worth 20%, a score of 90% on exams contributes more to your final grade (36 points) than a 90% on homework (18 points).
What if my weights don't add up to 100%?
The calculator will still work by proportionally scaling your grades. However, most syllabi have weights that sum to 100%. If yours don't, double-check with your instructor.
How do I convert a weighted grade to a letter grade?
Standard letter grade scales: A = 93-100%, A- = 90-92%, B+ = 87-89%, B = 83-86%, B- = 80-82%, C+ = 77-79%, C = 73-76%, C- = 70-72%, D = 60-69%, F = below 60%. Note that some schools use different scales.
