Clamping Pressure Calculator
Edge Gluing Clamp Setup
Calculate clamps needed for edge-to-edge glue-ups
Formula
Clamps = max(Total Force / Force per Clamp, Length / Spacing + 1) | Total Force = Area x Required PSI
Frequently Asked Questions
How much clamping pressure is needed?
Softwoods need 100-150 psi, medium hardwoods 150-200 psi, and dense hardwoods 200-250 psi. Too much pressure squeezes out too much glue, creating a starved joint.
How far apart should clamps be?
Place clamps every 6-8 inches for a good edge joint. Alternate clamps above and below the panel to prevent bowing. Ensure even pressure across the entire glue line.
