How does swing speed affect distance?
Ball speed = swing speed x smash factor. A higher swing speed directly increases ball speed and distance. Every 1 mph increase in swing speed typically adds 2-3 yards to driver distance.
What is smash factor?
Smash factor is the ratio of ball speed to clubhead speed. A perfectly struck driver has a smash factor around 1.48-1.50. Irons have lower smash factors due to their higher loft.
