Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know my suit jacket size?
Your jacket size is based on your chest measurement. Measure around the fullest part of your chest, under your arms. The chest measurement in inches is approximately your jacket size (e.g., 40" chest = size 40).
What do S, R, and L mean in suit sizes?
S = Short (under 5'7"), R = Regular (5'7"-5'11"), L = Long (5'11"-6'2"), XL = Extra Long (over 6'2"). This refers to jacket length, not overall size.
What is the standard drop in suit sizing?
The 'drop' is the difference between jacket and trouser size. Standard drop is 6 (jacket 40 = trouser 34). Athletic drop is 7-8 (larger chest, slimmer waist). Portly has a drop of 4 or less.
How should a suit jacket fit?
The shoulder seam should sit at your shoulder point. You should be able to button it without pulling. Sleeves should show 1/4 to 1/2 inch of shirt cuff. The jacket length should cover your seat.
